The cloud is closer than you think.
"The Cloud" refers to major data centers with massive servers that store and run software and services on millions of devices around the world. Simply put, services and software that run on the internet, rather than on your computer, are said to function "in the cloud."
The cloud lives primarily in wealthy, cooler parts of the world, far away from flood plains and even flightpaths. Housed in office blocks or warehouses, the world’s major data storage centers are primarily in the U.S. and Europe, though there’s growth in Asia and Australia.
